Your First Visit

For All New Patients:

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to ensure all necessary paperwork has been properly completed. This will save time and allow us to focus on your care.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • X-rays taken by a previous dentist, if applicable
       (You may request your x-rays be forwarded to our office, however, we are not authorized to do this on your behalf)
  • A list of medications you are currently taking
  • Your insurance card, If you have dental insurance
  • Completed Patient Forms

For all appointments, we encourage you to ask questions and present any concerns you have about your dental health. We want to make sure we answer all of your questions and address any concerns.

For new patients, you can expect the following agenda for your first appointment. In some cases we may be able to provide treatment on the same day, however, in most cases we will request a follow-up appointment to begin your care. 

For Adults:

During your first visit, you can expect your appointment to last approximately one hour and include:

  • Introduction to Root River Dental, Dr. Zachary J. Lechner, the staff and our Mission, Vision & Values
  • Establish a set of treatment goals based on your  Chief Concern(s)
  • Review of past medical and dental care, including review of your medications and any previous dental x-rays
  • Thorough head & neck examination, including evaluation for cavities, periodontitis (gum) disease, and an oral
       cancer screening
  • Dr. Lechner will determine if any diagnostic x-rays may be indicated and will inform you of the type of x-ray exam
  • An easy-to-understand review of any findings
  • Development of an individual treatment plan tailored to your needs
  • Treatment scheduling, insurance review and any financial arrangements, if needed

For Infants & Children:

IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

WHEN TO SCHEDULE: Your child’s first exam should be scheduled within six months of them getting their first tooth, but no later than age 1.  

During your child’s first visit, you can expect their appoint to last at least 30 minutes and include:

  • Introduction to Root River DentalDr. Zachary J. Lechner, and the staff 
  • Establish a set of treatment goals based on your  Chief Concern(s)
  • Review of past medical and dental care, including review of your medications and any previous dental x-rays
  • Age appropriate examination, cleaning and oral hygiene instruction
  • Dr. Lechner will determine if any diagnostic x-rays may be indicated and will inform you of the type of x-ray exam
  • An easy-to-understand review of any findings
  • Development of an individual treatment plan tailored to your needs
  • Treatment schedulinginsurance review and any financial arrangements, if needed

PLEASE NOTE: We will always ask a parent or guardian for consent prior to any x-rays, fluoride application or any other treatment provided for your child(ren).
